Buyer questions
Eight questions buyers ask about the Sportsman Open 252 Center Console, answered from the boats listed on US Marine Connection right now.
Right now US Marine Connection shows 6 approved, priced Open 252 Center Consoles asking between $161,360 and $176,208, with a median asking price of $176,208. Those are asking prices, not what anyone actually paid. Worth knowing: every one of these listings is a 2027 model described as a new unit, so this is not really a used-boat price range at the moment.
All 6 listings currently on US Marine Connection are 2027 models. There are no older model years posted for this boat right now, so you cannot compare a 2027 against, say, a five-year-old hull here. If you want an earlier Sportsman, the sibling listings go back further, including Open 232 boats from 2019 through 2026.
None of the 6 Open 252 listings states an engine hour figure, so there is no typical number to quote from this site. That fits what the descriptions do say: these are 2027 boats presented as new units. What the listings do give you is model year, engine, stock number and basic specs, and all 6 include photos. For hours, ask the seller directly.
Because the listings here are 2027 units with no stated hours, start by confirming actual hours and whether the boat has ever been rigged or run. Two descriptions mention added Yamaha Y.E.S. coverage totaling 5 years, so verify that warranty transfers and its start date. Check the Yamaha outboard, since listings show either a 300 HP or an F150XSA2. Inspect the fiberglass hull, transom, steering and electronics, and match the stock number to the boat you see.
Going only by what the descriptions state: a center console layout with a fiberglass hull, LOA of about 25 feet 3 inches, a 9 foot 3 inch beam and 4,672 lbs dry weight. Power listed is either 300 HP or a Yamaha F150XSA2 outboard depending on the boat. Two listings add an extra 2 years of Yamaha Y.E.S. warranty for 5 years total. No other equipment is named, so ask for a full option list.
The listings describe it as a center console, which is the classic fishing layout with walkaround deck space, and the specs given are a roughly 25 foot 3 inch hull with a 9 foot 3 inch beam on fiberglass. That said, none of these descriptions names livewells, rod holders or electronics, so do not assume any specific fishing package. Ask the seller exactly how each boat is rigged before you commit.
US Marine Connection currently shows 6 priced Open 252 Center Consoles, all with photos. Four of them are in Houston, Texas, and the other two are in Essex, Maryland. If neither city works for you, the sibling Sportsman models listed on the site may turn up in other locations, and each listing page shows the year, price and stock number for the specific boat.
By the listings, the Open 252 sits at the top on price: $161,360 to $176,208 for 2027 models. The Masters 247 Bay Boat is closest, with 7 listings from $154,629 to $155,728, also 2027, but it is a bay boat rather than a center console. The Open 232 is the budget end, 10 listings from $64,977 to $118,945 spanning 2019 to 2026. The site does not publish performance comparisons between them.
