Used Bayliner Boats for Sale: Prices, Models & 2026 Values
Bayliner started in 1957 outside Seattle and became the highest-volume fiberglass boat builder in the world by selling complete, affordable packages: boat, MerCruiser or Mercury power, and trailer, all through a huge dealer network. Brunswick has owned the brand since 1986, and for generations the Bayliner Capri was the first boat an American family could actually afford. That history is exactly why the used market is full of them.
Volume kept prices low, and older Bayliners earned a reputation for thin gelcoat and budget hardware. Modern Bayliners are a different story: the Element series (2013 onward, with the stable M-hull), the VR-series bowriders (2016 onward), and the revived Trophy center consoles (2019 onward) are competitive, well-built boats. For a buyer, the trick is to separate the two eras and price them accordingly.

What Bayliner is known for
- The Capri and Classic runabouts of the 1980s–2000s — the most common entry-level sterndrive boats in the country
- Element (M-hull) deck boats: simple, stable, and cheap to run with a single outboard
- VR4, VR5 and VR6 bowriders with outboard or sterndrive power
- The revived Trophy line (T20CC, T22CC, T22SC, T23EX) — value-priced center consoles
Popular used Baylinermodels & prices
Bayliner Capri / 175 / 185 / 195 (sterndrive runabouts)
$3,000–$15,000 usedThe classic budget bowrider. Mostly MerCruiser 3.0L four-cylinder power; cheap to buy and simple to fix, but outdrive bellows, manifolds, and soft floors are the usual surprises on 15- to 25-year-old examples.
Bayliner Element E16 / E18 / E21 (M-hull deck boats)
$12,000–$30,000 usedThe 2013+ Element made Bayliner relevant again: a stable, shallow-draft hull, a 60–150 hp Mercury outboard, and a price that undercut everyone. Used examples move quickly.
Bayliner VR4 / VR5 / VR6 (bowriders)
$24,000–$60,000 usedModern bowriders with a wide beam and either Mercury outboard or MerCruiser sterndrive power. The outboard versions are the ones to look for on resale.
Bayliner Trophy T20CC / T22CC / T22SC / T23EX (center consoles)
$45,000–$85,000 used; late-model dealer stock higherRelaunched in 2019 as an entry-level fishing and family line with Mercury outboards. Priced well under the premium center-console brands, with the fit and finish to match — honest boats for the money.
Bayliner Ciera / Sunbridge / 245–305 (cabin cruisers)
$10,000–$45,000 usedThe affordable weekender. A 1990s–2000s Ciera 2455 or 305 Sunbridge is the cheapest way into a cabin, head, and galley — but survey the stringers and outdrives before you fall in love.
Ranges are typical asking prices for privately sold and dealer-serviced boats in the U.S.; condition, engine hours, and refit quality move prices substantially.

View detailsBuying a used Bayliner: what to check
- On any pre-2010 Bayliner, walk the entire deck and cockpit floor listening for soft spots — wet foam and rotted stringers are the deal-breaker, and they hide under carpet
- Sterndrive models need the outdrive history in hand: bellows, gimbal bearing, water pump impeller, and (in salt) manifolds and risers
- Budget for the trailer: Bayliner packages shipped with light-duty trailers and many have rusted brakes and tired bunks by now
- Newer Element, VR and Trophy models with a Mercury outboard carry a warranty that may transfer — ask the dealer to confirm before you price the boat
Frequently asked questions
How much is a used Bayliner worth?
Older Capri and Classic runabouts sell for $3,000–$15,000; Element deck boats $12,000–$30,000; VR-series bowriders $24,000–$60,000; and late-model Trophy center consoles $45,000–$85,000. A tired 1980s hull is often priced for the trailer alone.
Are Bayliner boats good quality?
Older Bayliners were built to a price and it shows in hardware and gelcoat, but the hulls are sound when kept dry. Post-2013 Element, VR and Trophy boats are competitive with other Brunswick brands at a lower price. Buy on condition, not on the badge.
Which engine came in most Bayliners?
The MerCruiser 3.0L four-cylinder sterndrive powered the majority of 16- to 19-foot Bayliners from the 1990s through the 2010s; larger boats used MerCruiser V6 and V8 sterndrives. Newer Element, VR and Trophy models run Mercury outboards.
